Whale Watching from Reykjavik

 

The tour starts from Ægisgarður pier in the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavik. A guide will meet you in the Whale Watching Centre, which is facilitated on board an old fishing vessel permanently placed by the pier. Before or after the tour you can enjoy the onboard multimedia show that includes images, videos and facts about the whales and marine life. 

The sighting success on previous tours is 91.40% however the cetacean abundance is unpredictable and varies with the food availability of the shores. The most common cetacean in the area are the Minke whales, White-beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises and occasionally we see other species including the Humpback whales, Killer whales/Orcas and even Fin whales. On board you will find several outdoor viewing platforms and a large indoor saloon with toilet facilities and café where you can buy light refreshments.

 

NOTE: The tour is subject to weather, conditions and visibility. Therefore the tour could get cancelled on short notice.

Golden Circle Classic Tour

 

The Golden Circle tour showcases some of Iceland's most popular tourist attractions including the country's best known natural, cultural, and historic sites. 

From Reykjavik the tour takes you to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the tectonic plates of Europe and North America meet and one of the world's oldest parliament was founded in 930 AD. You‘re then treated up close to a majestic and thunderous waterfall Gullfoss (Golden Falls). Blue Lagoon incl. Entrance

 

The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa situated in a vast lava field on Reykjanes Peninsula. Simmering around 37 to 39°C the Blue Lagoon's waters contain minerals and salts essential for wellbeing as well as an algae that stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production. You can take a walk in the Lagoon’s spectacular surroundings, relaxing in a geothermal steam bath or release the stress from your shoulders under the Blue Lagoon's waterfall. 

 

Seven different departures from Reykjavík to choose from, including complimentary pick up service from your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík. Driving time to the Blue Lagoon takes around 50 minutes.

South Coast and Þórsmörk

 

The tour bigins by driving over the mountain heath Hellisheiði towards Selfoss town and then along the south shore to Seljalandsfoss waterfall. From there the journey continues towards the interior to our main attraction, Þórsmörk (i.e. Thor’s Woodland), a nature reserve shielded on three sides by glaciers and mountains. You will enjoy the breathtaking scenery and there is enough time to take about a one hour hike and enjoy your lunch (which you can either bring with you or buy on the way). Various hiking routes are available and everyone can find a suitable one.

 

On the way back you will stop at the rugged gorge of Stakkholtsgjá for a 1 hour hike to the end of the gorge. A small river needs to be crossed on the way by stepping from one stone to another. This tour is truly unforgettable for the nature lover at heart and ideal as a hiking trip.

South Coast & Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

 

This tour takes us along the beautiful south shore of Iceland to the extraordinary glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón. We will pass some charming villages as well as Skaftafell National Park and visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Skógafoss waterfall. Just before we reach the lagoon we pass Iceland’s biggest volcano, Öræfajökull glacier which has the highest peak of the island, Hvannadalshnjúkur (2110 m). After we arrive at the lagoon we take a boat tour on the lagoon. The boats that carry us are no ordinary boats as they are capable of driving short distances on land as well as sailing on the water. Jökulsárlón started to form in the early nineteen twenties and is getting bigger every year. You will see many amazing blocks of ice that have broken off Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull, as they sail slowly towards the ocean which is only a kilometer away.

Inside the Glacier - the man made Ice Cave at Langjökull

 

On this tour you will combine the once in a lifetime experience of a travel deep into a glacier with a trip on a 8 wheeler monster truck and a journey through one of Iceland’s most beautiful and historically significant area.

 

From Reykjavík we will drive to through the beautiful and historic Hvalfjörður (Whale-fjord) on our route to Deildartunguhver the highest-flow hot spring in Europe, and two waterfalls - Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls that literally flow from underneath the lava field, and Barnafoss with its powerful vortex of tumbling water. A short drive follows to the glacier where you will change vehicles and travel up to the unique man made cave in a special glacier truck.

This Golden Circle Super Jeep tour allows visitors to get in touch with some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena. Experience nature in a unique way in our 4x4 super-jeeps, which are specially modified to traverse difficult off-road tracks and mountain roads.

 

First stop is the historical Þingvellir National Park, as it was there that Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD. From Þingvellir we head along mountain tracks toward the world-renowned geothermal area around Geysir hot spring. We then continue on to Gullfoss waterfall. Next we kick the action into higher gear to head up mountain roads to the interior of the country for an exciting snowmobile tour on Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier.
