South Greenland

Narsaq, Narsarsuaq & Qaqortoq

East Greenland

Kulusuk & Tasiilaq

Combined

Kulusuk & Tasiilaq

No roads

In Greenland there are no roads or railways to connect the cities - it is the biggest island in the world with very long distances. Travelling between the cities is depending upon domestic flights. A fine alternative to flights, is boarding the coastal steamer and go along the west coast. Based on these very special conditions we advise visitors to concentrate on visiting only one area per stay.

Basic information

This page is ment to give some basic information about possibilities and conditions when planning a travel program in Greenland

West Greenland

The main tourist destination in West Greenland is Ilulissat which is reached by direct flights from Reykjavik or Copenhagen (via Kangerlussuaq). When going from Copenhagen we recommend a 1 or 2 nights stay in Kangerlussuaq.

South Greenland

Gateways into South Greenland are Copenhagen and Reykjavik to Narsarsuaq. Distances between the many highlights in South Greenland are rather short and capacity of boats is rather high. Even transfer by helicopter is affordable due to short distances.

East Greenland

Reykjavik is the gateway to East Greenland with flights to Kulusuk. The major town in East Greenland is Tasiilaq - a 10 minutes flight by helicopter from Kulusuk. We always recommend a max of 1 night in Kulusuk and 2 nights in Tasiilaq.
